Known as "Baby Ray", his small store was popular for many years. Men would sit inside "visiting" among themselves.
My grandparents lived across the street and we were often sent to the store to buy things for them, along with candy for ourselves of course.
The French family was always very good to my family.
In later years, Herbert and his wife would sell arts and crafts from the store.
