Born March 18, 1923, in Coatesville, he was a son of the late Robert C. and Iona M. (Stern) Ault.
He and his wife of 62 years, the former Carolyn E. Zarr, were married on January 27, 1946.
Robert graduated from Williamsport Area Community College with a degree in aviation mechanics. He then joined the U.S. Army Air Force and served proudly during World War II and the Korea era with units 8th and 9th as an aircraft engine mechanic. Following his discharge from the military, Robert worked at Andritz, formerly Sprout-Waldron, as a service engineer for 24 years. He retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board in 1986.
He was a member of St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Muncy.
Robert was a member of the Roland Ritter Post 268 American Legion, Muncy and the Edward O. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., Muncy.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and golfing. He was also known for lending a helping hand to anyone in need.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Donna Ault of Muncy; two daughters and a son-in-law, Vickie C. Ault of Montoursville and Maggie L. and Craig Boyles of Muncy; a brother, C. Coleman Ault of Coatesville; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
