Elkhart Lake—Martin Bethke, aged 77, died at midnight Tuesday at his home here following a lingering illness. Mr. Bethke was born in Germany April 16, 1857, and at the age of fourteen years he came to this country with his parents who located on a farm in Town Herman. Mr. Bethke was married to Ida Horneck February 11, 1883 and the couple lived on a farm in Town Herman until 1907, when they moved to Elkhart Lake.
Besides his wife, Mr. Bethke is survived by two sons, Ronald of Wooser, Ohio, and Raymond of Chicago and a daughter, Mrs. George Bruns of Elkhart Lake and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at the Bethke home and at St. Johns Evangelical Church. The Rev. Carl Nagel will officiate and burial will be made in the Elkhart Lake cemetery.
