A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st St. A, Moline, with a rosary recited at 2 p.m. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 246, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Moline American Legion Baseball.
Aime Louis Adams was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Manlius, Ill. He was the son of Adolph and Martha Noppe Adams. He attended school in Kewanee. Aime married Ruth Kleinbach on Nov. 3, 1945, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Aime was employed as an electrician at International Harvester, East Moline Works, for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy on the USS Platte in the Pacific.
Aime was a life member of the Moline American Legion Post 246 and commander in 1976-77, chef de gare of the Rock Island County Voiture 237 of the 40 & 8, a member of the Moline VFW 2153 and the Center for Belgian Culture. He was very proud of his Belgian heritage and was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel and meet his extended family there. Aime was coach and manager of the Moline American Legion baseball team for 30 years. He was very dedicated to the Legion baseball team.
Aime enjoyed fishing, especially the yearly trip to Minnesota with Ruth and his many friends. He was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears and also of Illini basketball.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife of 63 years, Ruth; daughters, Linda (Richard) Dokas, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Kathy (Stephen) Teeter, Rock Island; daughter-in-law, Teresa (Edwards) Adams; five grandchildren, Paul (Dara) Dokas, David (Michelle) Dokas, Philip Dokas, Caitlin Adams and Benjamin Adams; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brian, T.J. and Juliana Dokas; his sister, Darlene Boberg, Cambridge; and eight surviving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his and Ruth's son, Mark; his brother, Rene DeFauw; and sister, Irene Gruszecski.
