Allen W. Brodess died at 5:30 Monday morning at the family residence, 1035 North College street He was nearly seventy-nine years old .He was born in Rock county, O., in Dec. 1835. He came to Decatur many years ago and for a long time ran a grocery store and meat market at 703-707 East Grand avenue. He retired about six years ago. He was well known in the north and east part of the city. He was a member of Macon lodge No. 8, A.F. and A. M. He Is survived by his wife and two children, Clinton M. Brodess and Alphia, a daughter, who lives in the south. No arrangements have been made for the funeral.

Mr. Brodess was buried in the public mausoleum and when it was torn down in 1967, his body was placed in a common grave along with his wife.
