Obituary: Caldonia Strow, daughter of William and Susan Strow, was born Oct. 14, 1876 on a farm south east of Hebron, and died May 31, 1949, at Hebron at the age of 72 years, 7 months, and 17 days. She spent her entire life in Thayer County. On July 30, 1894, she married James Arthur Mahaffey. They had five children. The family lived for a few years near Chester, then moved to the Pleasant Mound neighborhood northeast of Hebron. They lived there 48 years. After the death of her husband in 1948, she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Gladys Wassom, of Hubbell, She had been an invalid for the past several years. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Wassom of Hebron, Mrs. Beulah Higel of Bruning, Mrs. Gladys Wassom of Hubbell; two sons, James of Hebron, and Earnest of Alexandria; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Hill Chapel, Hebron. Rev W.H. Clark, Fairbury conducted the service. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Fairbury.
