According to an Affidavit, sworn to and subscribed to, on 19th of June, 1925, by James Calvin Edwards, age 64 years, a resident of Mason County, Post Office address, Leon, West Virginia, was duly sworn according to law that the foregoing genealogy of our family, that David Edwards was in fact, his grandfather, and is correct to the best of his knowledge. Signed by: Dr. B. F. Sommer.

According to information related to some members of this family, Charles McIntyre, on May 3, 1855, married Sarah Hooper. Nothing is known of what happened to his first wife, Esther White, but shortly after, he moved his new bride and his two small sons by flat boat down the Ohio River to Point Pleasant, Virginia. Settling on Ten Mile Creek. Later, he acquired several hundred acres of land, building a large house, cleared the land, and reared many more children. After his death in 1882, his wife Sarah, gave each of their children a choice of either thirty-five acres of land, or three hundred dollars cash. Several of the children chose the cash and left the area, going to Kansas and to Ohio, to settle and raise their families.-Noble F. Connor.

It appears, that in the US Census of 1820 and 1830 for Washington County, Ohio, that there was a family living near the Edwards'. This family's surname was McIntyre. They also had family members living in Tyler County, Virginia (VA), where both David and his brother were married. This family spelled their name exactly as Charles McIntyre Edwards. This may explain Charles' middle name.- Steven W. Edwards
