Barbara L. Shaw, 52, of 2970 Mendon Rd., an employee of the East Bank's operation center, Lincoln, for five years, died Thursday at the Landmark Medical Center-Woonsocket Unit after an illness. She was the wife of Bruce H. L. Shaw.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of Bertha (Tyler) Lucey of Cumberland and the late John J. Lucey, she had lived in Cumberland 31 years.

Mrs. Shaw previously worked as a sales representative for 10 years at Marion's Sew and Vac, Bellingham and prior to that was a teller at Fleet National Bank, Woonsocket.

She was a 1959 graduate of Pembroke College, now Brown University. She attended Arnold Mills United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Cumberland League of Women Voters, the Friends of Cumberland Library, Blackstone Valley Power Squadron and was active witht the Girl Scouts for many years. She was involved in literacy programs for Vietnamese children.

Besides her husband and mother she leaves two daughters, Rebecca E. Miller of Harrisville and Sarah Shaw of New Britain, Conn.; and two grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, Nate Whipple Highway. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, North Smithfield.
