Perry Dusty Rhodes, 85, a well-known entertainer and fiddle player, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at his home in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Rhodes, the son of the late James K. and Amanda Elizabeth (Montgomery) Rhodes, was born June 5, 1920, in Manila. Winning the National Fiddle Championship at age 13, he went on to establish his own entertainment show, the Rhodes Show. Mr. Rhodes was a member of the Highland Church of Christ.

He was married June 30, 1945, to Garnett L. Arnold, who preceded him in death July 7, 2003. (He had a prior marriage to Lila Mae Foster in 1941).

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Perry Rhodes; and two brothers, Ethmer "Slim" Rhodes and Gilbert "Speck" Rhodes.

Survivors include five children, Ron Rhodes and wife, Lynda, of Haines City, Fla., Sandra Rhodes and adopted daughter, Brenda Bear Barnett, both of Mammoth Spring, Gordon Rhodes of Nashville and Donna Rhodes and husband, Craig Morris, of Fairview, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Shane Rhodes, Dawn Rhodes, Keith Rhodes, Heather Rhodes, Trent Rhodes, Savannah Morris, Sam Morris, Elayana Utley, Jake Utley and Kirsten Cox; and three sisters, Beatrice Hitt of Rogers, Ruby Dunn of Poplar Bluff and Jeffie Hitt of Lebanon, Tenn.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Highland Church of Christ with Vernon Curry officiating. Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Dixon Memorial Gardens in Dixon, Tenn.
