Joined for service and enrolled Aug. 10, 1862, Girard, IL for 3 years mustered in September 4, 1862 Carlinville, IL by Capt. Ewing, resides in Girard, Macoupin County, IL. Mustered out July 15, 1865 in Mobile, AL by Lt. Broderick.

Died, Capt. Benjamin Leigh at the residence of his brother A.G. Leigh, this city on Saturday, January 11 at the age of 46 years, 10 months and 23 days. Deceased was well known over the county, especially in Girard, and vicinity, having lived in Girard for the past twenty years except the last year he had been living at Pleasant Plains, Mr. Leigh's business here when he took sick, was looking up a place to live, he was postmaster here during both terms of Grants administration, he served his county during the last unpleasantness, as Capt. of Co. H, 122nd. Illinois, he leaves a wife and five children to mourn his loss.

Capt. Ben Leigh, died at the residence of his brother Al, last Saturday of Pneumonia, he came back to look up a place to move to as he had sold out his coal mines at Pleasant Plains. On Monday last he was taken sick and sank rapidly.
