COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Earl Bean, 68, were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 18, from the chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home. Burial was in Smith Chapel Cemetery in Jackson County.
Mr. Bean died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at his residence.
He was born June 2, 1942, in Jackson County to the late Winters and Sitha Rector Bean Allen.
Mr. Bean worked for many years at Daco. He enjoyed farming and was the chief of the Dodson Branch Volunteer Fire Department for 21 years. He was a member of Dodson Branch Southern Baptist Church.
His family includes his wife of 49 years, Mary Cooper Bean; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Earl and Kim Bean of Gainesboro and Jeffery Keith and Heather Bean of Cookeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Tim Morrison of Cookeville; three sisters, Faye Nelson and Mamie Burgess, both of Cookeville, and Theresa Esterline of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Wanda Alexander of Sparta; a stepbrother, J.T. Allen of Indiana; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Lewis Bean; a stepbrother, Jimmy Allen; and his stepfather, Vasco Allen.
Pallbearers were Danny Rich, Nathaniel Beaty, Johnnie Grogan, Dennis Rector, Derek Woolbright, Darrel Church, James Gibbons, Mitchell Knight and Curtis Reeves.
Bros. Jim Phillips and John Wood will officiate at the services.
