In Memory of Mrs. D. E. Gerald

Dear grandmother departed this life Oct. 31, 1934. She was seventy years and ten months old at her death. She was confined to her bed three weeks. The physicians said she had high blood which resulted in a stroke causing death. All was done for her that doctors, children and loving friends could do; but God knew best.

Interment was at the Cane Branch Cemetery. Rev. A. D. Harrelson and Rev. P. B. Coats conducted the funeral service They spoke of her life a being a model for us that live to follow. The pallbearers were her grandsons, and Mr. Glennings Hardwick undertaker. Her granddaughter carried the flowers and placed them on the grave. The collection of flowers were many and beautiful.

She was the daughter of Captain John Hardee, born Nov. 24, 1863. She married J. O. Gerald Jan 2, 1876. Her husband died Feb. 24, 1895, leaving her with eight children, four boys and four girls.

For the past fifteen years grandmother has lived in a house near three of her sons. She was ever loyal to her home church and to God in life. She was a faithful member of Cane Branch Baptist Church.

She is survived by 6 of her eight children: Mrs. W. A. Suggs, Mrs. J. O. Stevens, Mrs. W. G. Gerald, Mrs. A. F. Faulk, W. H. Gerald, G. L. Gerald, D. R. Gerald and L. C. Gerald; forty two grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
