Ruth grew up in White Sulphur Springs and graduated from high school there. She furthered her education in the secretarial field and became an executive secretary. She worked many years for the F.B.I. in Butte, Montana and in Washington D.C. After that she worked in the sheriff's office in Santa Barbara until retiring.
