Pvt. William Franklin McMurry died in the torpedoing & sinking of the troopship "Tuscania" on 5 February 1918 in the North Channel between Scotland & Ireland by German submarine UB-77. He was first buried at Kilnaughton, isle of Islay, Scotland, grave 62. His mother, Mrs. S.H. McMurry, of Royse City TX was notified of his death. William's body was returned to the U.S. aboard "Antigone" in September 1920
