Mark Wilcox was born in Irwin County, GA and married 1st to Elizabeth G. Cravey, daughter of John Cravey on July 10, 1858. She was born in Lowndes county, AL. Mark and Elizabeth moved to Shelby county, TX in 1860 and John was a Private and fought with Gould's Battalion, Randall's Brigade 1st Texas Lancers of the 28th Regiment Texas Cavalry, Confederate Forces during the Civil War. They moved to Brazos County early in 1865 and had seven children: Walter McCarthy, Thomas Mark, Oscar Louis, John Henry, Ida L., Minnie and Abigail A. Wilcox.

Mark married 2nd on January 15, 1889 to Lucinda E. 'Lou' Boggs and they had no children.
