Former Tax Assessor at Portville Dies
Portville -- Reuben L. Hatch of 34 Brooklyn St., died today (Thursday, May 20, 1982) in the Olean General Hospital, following a short illness.
Born in the town of Genesee on April 8, 1897, he was a son of Orson L. and Hattie Frair Hatch. On July 22, 1924, in Portville, he married the former Harriet Marsh, who predeceased him on April 25, 1978.
A graduate of Portville Central School class of 1914, Mr. Hatch was an active member of the Portville Alumni Association.
A retired oil produced he had been tax assessor for the village and town of Portville for 30 years; and had been a member of the Portville Central School Board for many years. Mrs. Hatch was also a member of Portville Masonic Lodge 579 F&AM; Knights Templar; Portville Senior Citizens; Odd Fellows Lodge; and was a member of the Portville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Eugene L. Hatch of Lakewood, Ohio, and Robert M. (Marsh) Hatch of Colden; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Friends may call at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where funeral and committal services will be held Saturday (May 22, 1982) at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Douglas Wilson, pastor of the Portville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
