CHARLES MATHIS JR., truck driver

ELYRIA-Charles Lee Mathis Jr., 49, of Elyria, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at EMH Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 23, 1950, in Elyria, where he lived his entire life.

He worked at Harshaw Chemicals and was a truck driver.

He was a faithful Deacon and member of Macedonia Church of God in Christ, where he served as a director of the Tape Ministry.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda (nee Grier); sons Christopher, Eric Henry; and Darrell, all of Elyria; daughters Edyth Stiles of Oberlin; Holly and Antoinett Tinskey, Jocelyn and Mandisa, all of Elyria; 12 grandchildren; brothers James of Cleveland Heights, Selby Wade of Livingston, Texas, Ricky of Lorain, Ted, Peter, and Marty of Elyria; sisters Eartha Diane Gaines of Saginaw, Mich., Susan Croft of Radclift, Ky., Sheryl Pettigrew of Elyria; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Sr. and Rosa Mathis.

Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Macedonia Church of God in Christ, 233 Bell Ave., Elyria. Services will be Wednesday at noon at Macedonia Church of God in Christ, with the Rev, Curtis Daniel officiating. Burial in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.

Arrangements are being handled by the Brown Funeral Home.
