George W. Shamblin Sr., 85, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Holzer Medical Center. He was born April 9, 1931 in Chesapeake, Ohio, son of the late James and Edith Bonecutter Shamblin. George was retired from AEP as the general manager of the river division and the general manager of GNC Towing. He was a member of Cheshire Baptist Church, Elks Lodge No. 107 and Cheshire Masonic Lodge No. 456.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen (Buddy) Moore of Gallipolis and Linda Hall of Cheshire, Ohio; sons, George W. Shamblin Jr. and Dwight (Terry) Shamblin, both of Gallipolis; grandchildren, Jodie Ranegar, Jill Wright, Brent Moore, Bryan Hall, Chad, Christopher, Bray and Charlie Shamblin; sisters, Gladys Rife of Cheshire and Carol Salle of Tel City, Ind.; and brothers, Don Shamblin of Alexandria, Va., Ray Shamblin of Florida and Tony Shamblin of Manassas, Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Jean Shamblin; brother, Jimmy Shamblin; sisters, Rosemary Reynolds, Alice Shamblin and Betty Bell; daughter-in-law, Robin Shamblin; and son-in-law, Jerry Hall.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, at Willis Funeral Home, Gallipolis, with Pastor Randy Carnes and Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial wil follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Hall, Brent Moore, Chad Shamblin, Bray Shamblin, Christopher Shambilin and Charlie Shamblin.
