Solomon Hardesty
Solomon was born on January 2, 1795 Ohio County, VA. He moved with his parents and siblings to Belmont County Ohio by 1796.
He married Catherine Warren, daughter of Haddock Warren and Nancy Ann Hawley (or Hillyard), on October 26, 1815 in Belmont County Ohio.
Solomon and Catherine lived in Belmont County until 1830, when his father Obediah died. They moved to Guernsey County, just to the west of Belmont County until about 1839. They traveled west to Spencer County Indiana to the small town of Rockport.
In 1839, Samuel and one of his married sisters came west to Lee County Iowa. They settled near Sugar Creek. After Solomon's death on August 14, 1841, Catherine joined her children in Keokuk. Nancy and her husband, Jacob Cummings, moved to Keokuk in 1842. Jacob died in 1844. Nancy remarried to Peter Lamaster in 1846. In 1850, Thomas also located in Keokuk. Solomon Hardesty and Catherine Warren moved to Guernsey County, Ohio by 1831, then to Spencer County, Indiana by 1838. After Solomon died on August 14, 1841, Catherine and most of her family moved to Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa. Catherine died there in 1863
George went into a partnership with his brothers Thomas and Haddock Hardesty in the contractors business in 1852. Also in 1852, Samuel Hardesty and his family left Keokuk for greener land in Adams County, Iowa. In 1853, Peter Lamaster died of bilious fever. In 1854, Nancy remarried to Jared Nelson Goddard.
Catherine died in 1863.
