Inventor. Born in Rochester, New York, he was noted for creating children's arts and crafts materials, and as the inventor of the fuzzy pipe cleaner. He sold the pipe cleaner rights to the BJ Long Tobacco Company which still manufactures the item to this date. He also invented the streetcar transfer ticket in 1892 and re-introduced the custom of placing a lit candle in windows for Christmas in 1913.
