Mary Braun was born in the village of Erbsville in Waterloo County in 1858. Her parents were Louis Conrad Braun (1828-1907) and Elizabeth Maria Baetz (1827-1892).
On December 27th, 1881 in Erbsville, she married Henry Rahn (1856-1936) at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

They raised 6 children; George (1883-1963), Emma (1884-1953), Bertha (1886-1916), Elizabeth (1888-1944), Jacob (1890-1972) and Clara (1893-1920).
Mary only lived 6 weeks after the death of her husband.
She also died at her daughters house at 38 Mount Hope St. in Kitchener. She was ill for 4 months.
