PLAINVIEW- Services for Ethie M (Brokaw) Synovec, 90, Plainview, will be at the United Methodist Church here at 11 a.m. Tuesday with burial at Prospect View Cemetery at Pierce. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel at Pierce. She died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at the Plainview hospital. She was born Dec. 26, 1916, in Holt County to Clarence Brokaw and Cecelia Acklie. She attended Holt county school to the eighth grade. She married Elmer Synovec on Nov. 16, 1936, at Stanton. She did housework for different people in the Brunswick area. After marriage they moved to Pomona, Calif. In 1938, they moved back to Pierce and farmed until her husband passed away in January of 1983. She moved to Plainview in October of 1983. She enjoyed having company, cooking, embroidery work and visiting. She moved into assisted living in April of 2006 and in May to the Plainview Manor. She was a member of Stark Valley United Methodist Church, rural Plainview. Survivors include five children, Shirley and husband Harold Hansen of Plainview, Donna and husband Lawrence Steuck of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Joyce Gansebom of Norfolk, Alvin and wife Helen Synovec of Kearney, Jerry and wife Verlene Synovec of Randolph; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Grace and husband Alfred Sommerfeld of Norfolk; special friend, Covell Musick of Plainview; a host of relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, parents, two sisters, three sons-in-law and one daughter-in-law. The Rev. George Kilmer will officiate. Music will be by organist and soloist Karen Sloan and flutist Paula Sloan. Casket bearers will be Jeff Sloan, Jay Sloan, Joe Sloan, David Synovec, Dale Butterfield, Barry Evans.
