Obituary from the Concord Monitor, Concord, NH, USA:

WOODBRIDGE, England - Mary Hoague, 87, formerly of Weston, Mass., and Deerfield, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010.

Born in Boston, Mary's parents were Theodore Hoague and Laurette (Riese) Hoague. Mary spent her early years in Weston, Mass., and attended Beaver Country Day school in Brookline, Mass. In 1938, she moved with her family to the family homestead in Deerfield. She graduated from Pembroke Academy in Pembroke and then from Boston University.

After college, Mary was employed by the U.S. Air Force at a variety of bases in Germany and England. For the greatest part of her career, she was at the U.S. Air Force base in Woodbridge, England, where she was a guidance counselor and teacher. Mary was very active in the Overseas Teachers Association and served as its president and legislative chairman. In March 1960, she testified in Washington, D.C., before the House Subcommittee on Defense Appropriations on the subject of professional salary scales for overseas teachers. Upon her retirement in 1991, Mary was honored by the association's Board of Directors as "a leader who served with courage, intelligence and commitment."

After retirement, Mary remained in Woodbridge, where she enjoyed feeding the ducks at her home, Bluntswood Cottage, touring the English countryside and frequent trips to London to attend the theater. Until her health began to fail, she also enjoyed her annual visits to the homestead in Deerfield.

She was predeceased by her three brothers, Ted, Joe and Bob; and by her dear friend, Jane Yarbrough.

Survivors include her sister, Helen H. Huston of Milwaukee, Wis., and 11 nieces and nephews and their families.
