Harold was born January 27, 1926 in Ste. Genevieve, MO, the son of George and Mary Eve Otte Figge. He married Anita "Beckie" Bequette on June 26, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington, MO.
Harold attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO. He proudly served our country in the Navy from 1944-1946. He was the owner and operator of B&Z Bakery from 1958-1988. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, K of C #364, Bishop Griffin 4th Degree Assembly, Elks Lodge #158, American Legion Post #32, United Commercial Travelers and was a former board member of St. John's Hospital. Harold also volunteered for many organizations including St. John's and Memorial Hospital Pastoral Care Departments, St. John's Samaritans, Illinois Food Bank, Senior Center, Old State Capitol, Sangamon Auditorium, local and state AARP, and the Caregivers of Third Age Living.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Figge; parents; siblings, Ida Trautman, Erma Rehm, Ulita Figge, Edna Hilbert, Helen Lawrence, William and Emanuel Figge.
He is survived by his wife, Beckie of Springfield; three children, Rev. Diane Figge of Los Alamos, NM, Paul (wife, Dee) Figge of Auburn, and Karen (husband, John) Phillips of New Berlin; eight grandchildren, Sara, John and Chris Figge, Adam and Laura Figge, Emily, Matt, and Cecelia Phillips; daughter-in-law, Kathy Figge of Tulsa, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Harold's wishes, his remains were donated for anatomical research.
Burial will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
