Henry John Eckert, a retired sergeant of the Bethlehem Steel Corp. Police Force. He was a member of the force at Sparrows Point from 1929 to 1963. A native of Baltimore, MD he served with the machine gun unit in the 29th Division in France during World War I. He was a member of the Corinthian Lodge of the Masons, the Scottish Rite, the Tuscan Chapter and the Baltimore Council of the York Rite, the Beauseant Commandery of the Knights Templar, Boumi Temple, and the Shrine and Acacia Clubs of Dundalk. He was also a member of the Bethlehem Steel Post of the American Legion, the Wells McComas Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Baltimore Barracks of the Veterans of World War I and the Baltimore Post of the 29th Division Association. He was survived by his wife the former Frances F. Scherr; three brothers, Emil B. Eckert of Mineral Wells, West Virginia; John J. Eckert of Bel Air, MD and Alton Eckert of Baltimore, MD along with three sisters, Mrs Rose Elliott, of Linthicum, MD and Mrs Elsie Ross and Mrs. Minnie Upton, both of Baltimore, MD
