Obit: On the 16th day of June 1921 the death angel called Brother G. W. Payne to his reward. Bro. Payne was born in Gallia County Ohio July 7, 1939; was converted to the religion of Christ and joined the Missionary Baptist church in the year 1859, in the State of Illinois. Was married to Sara Stewart in 1860. To this union were born ten children, four girls, six boys survive him. His wife died in the year 1890. He was married to Martha Mills in 1895, he at that time living in Indian Territory. Bro Payne has lived a devoted christian for sixty two years and has made many friends where he has lived. He has made a good record for those left behind him to follow in his footprints. The church at round Prairie has lost a devoted member and his family has lost a kind, loving father in the death of Brother Payne. Let us not mourn but say to him who doth all things well, thy will be done, for we know that our loss is Brother Payne's eternal gain. We commend his children and friends to that God who doth all things after his own will and counsel and let us so live that we will meet him in that land where parting, sickness and death will be no more.
