ADOLF H DIERKS
MONTICELLO…Funeral services for Adolf Hermann Dierks, 84, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran church. Interment was in Wayne Zion Lutheran church cemetery, rural Monticello. The Rev. Harold L. Naig officiated.
Mr. Dierks died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Sept. 13 after an illness of several weeks. He was born at Sandebusch, Oldenburg, Germany Feb. 26, 1888, the son of Hermann and Anna Johnson Dierks.
Mr. Dierks came to the United States in 1907 and settled near Monticello where he was employed as a carpenter and farmer.
He was married to Anna Prull Zimmerman June 14, 1916. They farmed in Wayne Township until 1944. Mrs. Dierks died Aug 5, 1970.
Survivors include three sons, Harry of Monticello, Leo of Toledo, Ohio, and Lorence of Cedar Rapids; a step-daughter, Mrs. Julius (Elizabeth) Spohler of Toledo, Ohio.
Also 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Karl of Oldenburg, Germany.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Casket bearers were Lawrence Schafer, Willis Harms, George H. Harms, Ed Renken, Henry Schuette, and George Folkerts.
