MRS. ADAM ROSA DIES
Catharine A. Stockman, daughter of William and Catherine Stockman, was born in Lee county, Iowa, on March 1, 1865, and passed away at her home in Benton township, Lucas county, Iowa, on February 3, 1928, at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 2 days.
When a small child she came with her parents to Lucas county, locating southwest of Chariton where she grew to womanhood.
On November 10, 1887, she was united in marriage to Adam G. Rosa. To this union were born three sons, Theodore, W., Fred E. and Chester E., all of Lucas county, who with her companion are left to mourn her departure. She loved her family and was the happiest when all were with her.
In early womanhood she was converted and joined the United Brethren church and remained an active member until her death. In later years ill health prevented her from attending church services regularly, but her heart was with her church and its welfare.
Besides her family mentioned above, she leaves four grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters, Will Stockman, of Red Deer, Canada; Fred Stockman, of Ellensburg, Washington; Henry Stockman, of California; Jake, her twin brother, of Benedict, Nebraska; Mrs. Lizzie Thelbar, of Oberlin, Kansas; Mrs. Ricka Grobe, of Ansley, Nebraska; and Mrs. Ida Wintersteen, of Lincoln, Nebraska, and a host of neighbors and friends. One sister, Mrs. Anna Holmes, preceded her in death.
Everything that medical skill and loving hands could do to restore her to health and to alleviate her pain was done, but the all wise Heavenly Father saw fit to remove her to the home above.
Largely attended funeral services, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Hougham, assisted by Rev. Cornford, were held at the Otterbein church on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery. The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful, tender messages of love for the dead and sympathy for the living.
