Born in a log cabin in Wilmer's Gulch approximately 1 mile E. of Rosita, CO. Second of six children of Isabell & Lewis Harvey Abbott. When 20 yrs. old bought 1700 acre ranch on Antelope Creek, 5 miles S. of Rosita, CO.With brothers Alfred & Lewis, sister Annie played for house dances.Sold ranch in 1944 & purchased Carlsbad Swimming Pool in Canon City, CO. Married May Ellen Derr, the local school marm, Feb. 24, 1933 in Westcliffe, CO. Sons Raymond Eugene born 11/23/33& Robert James born 1/9/36. Operated swimming pool in summer & drove school bus in winter until his death.
