Roy Arthur Bickell, age 67, of Burley, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at his home. Roy was born on June 3, 1943, in Goodnight, Oklahoma, to Asa Arthur and Mabel (Ridpath) Bickell. He was the fifth of six children. He went to school at Tryon School graduating from the 8th grade and then continued his high school career at Perkins graduating in 1961. Roy was drafted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Korea from 1966 until 1968. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 2224 in Puyallup, Washington. He married Patsy Sue Stevens in 1963. They moved to Bellflower, California, in 1964, where Roy worked in the heating and air business. Roy and Patsy adopted two boys, Tim and Terry. The couple later divorced in 1990. In 1991, Roy moved to Burley and went to work for Ore-Ida and later worked for McCain Foods retiring in 2007. He was well-known at Riverside AKA – plant No. 3. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tim Bickell; a brother, Bobby Dale Bickell; and two brothers- in-law, Richard Dickinson and Gene DeVos. He is survived by his son, Terry and wife, Lisa of Burley; a close friend, Leona Greene of Burley; his sisters, Nellie Ruth DeVos of Knoxville, Iowa, G. Doreen Roe of Puyallup, Washington, and Sharon Kay and Ron Burch of Sterling City, Texas; one brother, George T. "GT" Bickell of Tryon, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; nine nephews; and five nieces. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, Pastor Jim Powell officiated. Burial followed at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, with military rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization.
