Mrs. Maxine McLaughlin Stanley, 97, died Sunday, November 14, 2010
Mrs. Maxine McLaughlin Stanley of Mayodan, NC went to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Hospice House of Rockingham County.

Mrs. Stanley was born in 1912, and would have celebrated her 98th birthday on November 18th. A party was being planned for her here, but her heavenly Father had a banquet awaiting her in heaven.

She was the daughter of the late Jim and Mattie McLaughlin of Siler City, NC, and was preceded in death by her loving and dear companion, the Rev. Mr. Paul Stanley, and daughter Lynette Collins of Durham, NC.

Survivors include son, Paul Randal Stanley and wife, Tamra of York, SC; daughter, Nadine S. Godwin and husband, Mitch of Conway, SC; grandsons Shawn Godwin and wife, Rachel of Conway, SC, Jeremy Stanley of Nashville, TN, and William Blake Stanley of York, SC; granddaughters Ashley Godwin of Washington, DC, Tammy and Karen Collins and great-grandson, Marshall of Durham, NC; brother, Keith McLaughlin of Siler City, NC. Also surviving her are special nephews, Dr. Charles F. Stanley of Atlanta, GA and Rev. Doyle G. Marley of Mayodan, plus a host of nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends, including "adopted son" Steve Hopper and wife, Pat.

Mrs. Stanley was a godly, loving and caring mother who left her children a great heritage. A special lady who never met a stranger, she loved everyone and always saw the good in those she met. In her many years served in ministry, she touched lives around the world. Mrs. Stanley will be greatly missed by those who knew her as a pastor's wife, friend and family member.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 16, 2010, from 6 p. m. until 8 p. m. at Stoneville Pentecostal Holiness Church in Stoneville, NC.

A Celebration of her life will be at the Stoneville Pentecostal Holiness Church, of which she was a member, on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at 1 p. m. Burial will follow at the Mayodan Municipal Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church "Little is Much Ministry" and the Baptist Men, First Baptist Church of Mayodan, 101 S. 1st Avenue, Mayodan, NC 27027; Hospice House of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375; or Stoneville Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 4933 NC 770, Stoneville, NC 27048.
