Bennie died during WWI, but his body was not returned to Fairfield for full burial until 1921. Some 300 veterans turned out to give him a veteran's burial service.

PVT Adkins was wounded on September 10th in the St. Mihiel battle. He died September 12, 1918 in a field hospital from his wounds. ☆
