Harper Ashlyn Creek was born February 2, 2009 at
11:14 pm weighing 8 lb 1 oz in St. Louis, MO.
On Feb. 3, a small soft tissue mass was noticed on
her left foot. This was not of immediate alarm to hospital staff nor her pediatrician at her 1 and 2
month check ups.

Along with our families, Ryan and I felt the need
to discover exactly what was continuing to grow
noticeably on a weekly basis on Harper's left foot.
We started the month long quest for answers and
through guidance of several specialists, decided
that a biopsy was the only way to know for sure what
we were dealing with in order to treat it properly.

Harper was diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma
on May 6, 2009 at just 13 weeks old. As the picture
of perfect health (and a hefty 15 lb 9 oz), you would never had assumed she was sick at all.

Harper's journey began rather quickly with an
immediate consultation with the Pediatric Oncologist
at St. Louis Children's Hospital on the day following
her diagnosis. Her doctor ordered 5 tests (MRI, CT
scan, bone marrow biopsy, bone scan, and a lymph
node biopsy) to determine the stage of her cancer
which was used to determine a specific treatment protocol. All tests showed NO evidence that her
cancer had spread. The lymph node biopsy from her
groin did come back positive which means we cannot
avoid radiation of the foot and groin.

Harper and her family have started her fight against
this rare form of cancer with an enormous support
system and a huge sense of faith. We ask everyone
to please put Harper in your prayers as she fights
this nasty disease.
