BIRTH YEAR:
On Find-A-Grave, it is recorded that Noah Warner of Shelby County, Indiana death date is 16 May 1861. He is buried in the St. George Cemetery, Jackson Township, Shelby, Indiana. It states that his age was 23 years, 5 months and 11 days. This puts his calculated birth at 5 Dec. 1837. The Find-A-Grave reflects his birth as 1838.
These birth dates are not supported by documentation.
In the 1850 U.S. Census, Jackson Township, Shelby, Indiana dated 1 Sept. 1850, Noah Warner is listed with his father at age 9 which puts his estimated birth year of 1841.
In the 1860 U.S. Census, Jackson Township, Shelby, Indiana dated 7 Aug. 1860, Noah Warner is listed as head of his household with his wife and daughter at age 19 which puts his estimated birth year of 1841.
Then, In the "Consolidate List of all persons of Class I subject to do military duty in the 6th Congressional District consisting of the counties Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan and Shelby state of Indiana enumerated during the month of June 1863", We find the following:
Shelby County, Washington Township: Noah Warner, age 22, farmer, married and born in Indiana. This puts his birth year at 1841 again.
this report is date 31 July 1863. How could Noah Warner be enumerated in this report in 1863 if he died in 1861.
He headstone clearly reflects his death as May 16 but I believe the death year is 1864 not 1861 and is being misread due to wear of the stone.
Therefore , I would record his death year as 1864 which puts his re-calculated birth years as 5 Dec. 1840.
