Henry was born 11 Aug 1857, the fourth son of John L. Winchell and Winifred O. Ashley. Cora Leona Thatcher was his first wife. They married Dec. 24, 1880. She died from complications from giving birth to their last child, son Earl, in 1892. In 1893 Henry married Esther Maria Haskell in Mittineague. They later divorced. In 1895 he married a local girl, Alice Belle Snyder. With her he had 9 children.

H. F. WINCHELL, 73, DIES

Lee, April 29—Henry F. Winchell, 73, died today at the home of his daughter, Mrs Albert Schwab of Golden hill, where he had lived the past five years. Mr Winchell was long a resident of Housatonic where for many years he was employed as a carpenter at the Monument mills. He was married twice. His first wife was Miss Clara Thatcher and his second, Miss Alice Snyder, who died in 1912.
He leaves two daughters, Mrs Schwab of Lee and Mrs George Wylie of Great Barrington; six sons, Paul H. of Chatham, N.Y., Chester H. of Pittsfield, Earl J. of Kalamazoo, Mich., Ellis H. of Shakertown, N.Y., Daniel C. and Elmer J. of Lee. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 at the Schwab home. Rev. E. G. Wahl of Housatonic will officiate. Burial will be at Housatonic.
