2 KENNEWICK BROTHERS MISSING IN OREGON

Oregon State Police are searching the coast 80 miles southwest of Portland today for two Kennewick brothers missing since Monday.

No trace as been found of Rick or Greg Evans, the 21 and 16-year-old sons of Dr. and Mrs. H Dale Evans of 106 N Palouse Street, the state police reported.

The police said Rick's car was found Tuesday on a roadside bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean south of Lincoln City.

They do not believe the youths fell into the ocean or were trapped by tides and are not searching the waters in the area, a spokesman said, adding that foul play is not suspected.

The brothers were reported missing by their father after they failed to show in Kennewick Monday as expected. Greg was to return to classes at Kennewick High School and Rick was to appear for a job interview, a family spokesman said.

Rick, a 1971 graduate of Kennewick High School has lived in Lincoln City for a year and had asked his brother to help him move back to Kennewick. The spokesman said. The two left Kennewick, Friday.

Police said the brothers stayed in Rick's Lincoln City, apartment Friday night. The car was discovered with their personal belongings intact. The brothers apparently had not finished packing because many items were still in the apartment, the spokesman said.

A friend of Rick might have seen the two in the Lincoln City area as late as Tuesday, a police official said today.

The youth's father and oldest son Jerry are in Oregon today assisting the search.

SEARCH CONTINUED FOR MISSING BROTHERS

Oregon State Police are continuing their search today for two Kennewick brothers missing near Lincoln City, Ore., since Monday.

A state police spokesman said today no trace has been found of Greg or Rick Evans, the sons of Dr. and Mrs. H. Dale Evans of 106 North Palouse St., Kennewick, in the coastal area 80 miles southwest of Portland.

Police are searching the rocky shoreline near where the youths' car was discovered Tuesday on the possibility the brothers were swept into the ocean while beach combing.

Searching the waters in the area would be of little use, police said, as strong tides and currents in the area would have quickly swept any object far out to sea.

There is no reason to suspect foul play in the case although the possibility is not being ruled out, police said.

An earlier report that a friend of Rick saw the two in the Lincoln City are as late as Tuesday was false, police said.

Rick 21, and Greg 16, were reported missing Monday by their father after failing to return to Kennewick as expected. Rick was to appear at a job interview, a family spokesman said, and Greg was due in class at Kennewick High School.

Rick has lived in Lincoln City for a year, but had asked Greg to help him move back to the Tri-Cities. The two left Kennewick on Friday.

The youths' father and brother Jerry remained in Oregon today assisting police in the search.
