Note from Linda Schritter: Standing Left to right: Nettie Melinda, Artemus Clark, Effie Frances, Hettie Eugene, Amanda Catherine (with hand on Newt's shoulder) Seated: Susan Lilas, Josephine Alvarine, Thomas J., Sarah Catherine (WREN) , James Colwell, John Penny, Grandmother WREN (Mahala Amanda SCOTT), Thomas Levi, William Washington, Joseph Newton. Those of us who have had the privilege of seeing this picture over the years always remark about Sarah Catherine, the mother of all of those children from big old muscular (and very handsome) young men to the baby on her lap, and living on the frontier, looking EXHAUSTED while our Thomas J. seems not to have a worry in the world :-)
