Mrs. Shafer died Friday, Nov. 12, in a local hospital.
She was born on Sept. 29, 1925, to Alton Luther and Vergie Spangler Robinson in Sulfur Springs. On Oct. 1, 1947, she married Elvis Lanis Shafer. She worked as the secretary at Tyler Elementary School and attended Taylor's Valley Baptist Church in Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 30, 1983.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Shafer and Robert "Bobby" Shafer, both of Belton; a daughter, Sandra Johnson of Belton; a brother, Jimmy Robinson of Temple; three sisters, Ruby Hawk of Temple, Cordella "Snookie" Hale of Belton and Peggy Fox of Michigan; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
