(ROANOKE) Funeral services for Inez Smith Mitchell, 90, of Roanoke will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov 10, 2010, at Big Springs Baptist Church with Revs. Jacky Simmons and Scott Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Mrs. Mitchell will lie in state one hour before the service at the church.
Mrs. Mitchell died Monday, Nov 8, at her home.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by one daughter, Novice Treadwell, Roanoke; sons, Jimmy Mitchell, Woodland, Thermon Mitchell, Austell, GA and Roger D. Mitchell, Phenix City; sisters, Opal Johnson, Morrison Crossroads, Estelle Lynch, Warner Robins, GA; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Bell Mitchell, Jason Mitchel, Kenny Mitchell, Jamie Treadwell, Larry Traylor and Johnathan Gilliland.
Mrs. Mitchell was born Dec. 14, 1919, the daughter of James Jasper and Lizzie Mitchell Smith. She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church and had been a lunchroom worker for Randolph County High School. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Byron A. Mitchell; her parents; brother, Wheeler Smith; and three great-grandchildren.
