Mrs. Lynda Long Warren, age 64, of Forest City, NC, died on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC following an extended illness. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Traci Warren Anderson of Charlotte, NC and Sonia Warren of Spindale; two grandchildren, Jensen and Hal Anderson, both of Charlotte; a sister, Jean Long Slate of Pinebluff, NC; and a host of other friends and extended family. Services in celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 11: 00 am at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Forest City, NC with Rev. Don Freshour and Rev. Alice Day officiating. Concluding services wil be held in the church cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, October 25 from 7: 00 until 8:30 pm at Crowe's Mortuary, Rutherfordton, NC. Lynda's life was a reflection of the meaning of her name, which is "Beautiful." Born on July 22, 1943 to Russell and Annie Hamrick Long, Lynda was a warm and outgoing individual. Her energetic personality was evident while attending Cool Springs High School, where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. Her high school year book noted under her photo "100 words a minute - no typewriter" which as those who knew her will agree, was Lynda at her happiest - quick with a smile and always ready for a conversation. Following high school, Lynda attended Appalachian State University for two years and then settled in to her lifelong calling of being a loving mother and grandmother. Even through her battle with health problems, Lynda still tried to live by her favorite quote by Elanore Roosevelt, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift from God. That is why we call it the present." Crowe's Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
