At his residence, in this city, at 8:30 AM, June 4th, H.C. Young, aged 59 years.
Deceased was born at Salem, Ind., and when twelve years of age, moved with his parents to Bloomington, Ill., and there resided for a number of years, when he and his parents came to Mo., and settled in Davis Co., where they resided when the war came.  Deceased had then arrived to man's estate, and being loyal to his country, he became a soldier and was a member of troop F, Merrills horse, which was organized in 1861, and deceased was made sergeant.  After serving for three years he returned home on sick leave and after regaining his health rejoined his troop and regiment.  In 1862, deceased was married to Miss Mary C. Edwards at Salem, Mo., who survives him.  There were born of this marriage eight children; seven sons and one daughter, all living and all of whom were present at the time deceased was buried.  Their names are as follows:  Harrison I., conductor B. & M., Lincoln, Neb.; William, interior decorator, Kansas City; Roy L. and Robert H., electricians, and Arthur, engineer, Lincoln, Neb., Clarence Bert and Mable, who reside at home with their mother.  Deceased has resided in this city for about five years, and was a member of the Christian church having previously resided in Beloit, Kansas.  This very interesting family enjoy the respect and esteem of all whose pleasure it is to know them, and they have the severe sympathy of the entire community in this sad hour of affliction.

Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Harshaw and the Presbyterian church choir rendered several appropriate selections.  The exercises at the residence being concluded, the remains of deceased were borne to the Highland cemetery late in the evening of Tuesday, followed by the family and many mourning friends and there deposited in their final resting place by G.A.R. post of this city.
