Ralph Simpson Haney was the fourth child born to Dr. Thomas Lee & Mary Ella Simpson Haney, previously of Park Hills, Missouri. Both parents preceded him in death.

Born in French Village, Missouri, Ralph Simpson Haney was the fourth child, out of nine. In order of birth his siblings are:
Stella, Margaret, Melba, Iva, Paul, Earl, Lulu, Ruby, and Ida. Stella, Margaret, and Paul having died in early childhood.

When Ralph was seven years old, in early 1908, he contracted Tuberculosis, after which a short time later, the entire Thomas L. Haney family unit relocated to Artesia, New Mexico for his treatment, by his father who was on staff at Artesia General Hospital where Ralph was being treated. Once cured, Ralph and his family moved back to Southeast Missouri around 1912, to Park Hills, where his father was the lead mine's resident doctor, and town surgeon.

Throughout his young life Ralph excelled in academics, football as QB, and public service, all made possible from his TB cure. Ralph graduated Farmington High School in 1920, and was the class valedictorian. It was there he knew Ruby, until she moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she worked as a secretary at The Detroit Fire and Marine Insurance Company. Not to soon after... Ralph moved there, and later his brother Earl too. Ralph --in pursuit of Ruby, and a job.

Ralph worked as a representative, distributor, and regional manager for the Mills Baking Company as it transitioned into NaBisCo for nearly 25 years in Michigan, Illinois, and Missouri. After the purchase of a thousand shares of company stock, by his father, (an "incentive" to get the company to hire him) he began his career. He was devoted to his wife and girls, whom he loved and cherished dearly. His hobbies were football, travel, automobiles, and hunting. He treasured nature, and the vastness of the natural outdoors.

Ruby and Ralph married on October 10th, 1923 at Holy Redeemer Church in Detroit. After several years of living there Ralph, Ruby, Colleen, Kathryn, & Shirley moved back to the Park Hills area in 1930, after the death of his mother. Both of whom passed away within a year of each other. (See their Bios)

It was there in Park Hills that Ralph briefly managed the affairs of his siblings until his own family relocated several times working for Nabisco. Ralph & Ruby had two more daughters Betty, and Mary Sue ( in southern IL) -before settling in Cape Girardeau, MO in the mid thirties. They lived in a large Dutch-Colonial style home located at 20 South Pacific, across the street from the city school until his death. It is ironic he, like his dad, died from a heart attack from mowing [their] lawns on a hot summer day. His father Thomas having survived for a several days after his heart attack. Ralph was found on the family lawn. Both having passed-away within days of their respective birthdays.

Having died suddenly at the age of forty-six he was unable to bear mortal witness and realize the earthly joy of growing with his children, and their children's --future. His legacy is in the amalgamation of his DNA... and his regally-dynamic beings of historic proportions. In the truest sense, he was an awesome father, brother, husband, and son.

Ralph is grave one.
