Ernest A. Helmke, 55, 403 Columbus St., lifelong resident of the Sun Prairie area, died unexpectedly Monday at his home. He was a maintenance man at the American Family Insurance Co. in Madison and a member and former treasurerer of the Sun Prairie Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former, Marcella Klubertanz; two sons, Ronald and Darrell; and a daughter, Janice, all at home; three sisters, Mrs.Alice Kampen of Arlington, Mrs. Fern Hackbart, and Mrs. Genevieve Walsvick of Madison; and a half-sister, Mrs. Wade Hughey of rural Sun Prairie. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Sun Prairie Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold Riebe officiating. Burial was in Sacred Hearts Catholic Cemetery.
