Funeral services for Eric Coward, 85, of Cullowhee, who died Saturday, January 27, 1973 in a Haywood County nursing home after a long illness, were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, January 29 in the Chapel of the Moody Funeral Home.
The Rev. Sterling Melton officiated. Burial was in East LaPorte Cemetery. Graveside rites were conducted by members of East LaPorte Lodge number 358, AF & AM. Nephews were pallbearers.
Mr. Coward was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, a retired farmer and a member of East LaPorte Lodge number 358.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Alice Haney Coward; and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Phillips of Cullowhee.
