Mr. James Carlton Coker, 93, of Green­ville, loving h u s b a n d of Laverne Coker, died November 11, 2010. Born in Ware Shoals, SC, he was a son of the late James Clarence and Flossie Hudson Coker.

Mr. Coker served in the U.S. Army dur­ing World War II, and retired from Thermo Kinetics. He was a member of Cross Point Assembly of God. In addition to his wife, Laverne, he is sur­vived by his daughter, Judy Dianne Melton (Donald); a step­daughter, Sandra Flem­ing (Charles); seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Travis, Joy, and Mark Fleming; Linda Kay Morton, Barry Coker, and Robin Melton; nine great grandchil­dren, Torrie Brown, Chris Melton, Zoie and Kara Fleming, Stepha­nie Blanton, Timothy Morton, Jackie Miller, Johnathan Coker, and Kim Coker; two great­great grandchildren, Skyla Brown, and Ans­ley Blanton; and his sis­ter, Ruth Lusk.

Carlton was prede­ceased by his son, Don­nie Visitation will be Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2010, in the chapel of the funeral home, with burial following at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Belton, SC. Memorials may be made to Cross Point Assembly of God, 3315 Anderson Road, Green­ville, SC 29611; or to Camp Spearhead, 4806 Old Spartanburg Road, Taylors, SC 29687.
