~0bit~Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon of this week for Absolum L. "Shorty" Schaum, who passed away Monday at the Plainview Hospital. The Rev. H. F. Beebe, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated at the rites which were conducted at the Hengstlier Chapel. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Schaum, son of Phillip and Mary Schaum, was born October 14, 1883, at Troy Mills, Iowa. He was 67 years of age at the time of his death. He came to Knox County in 1905 and lived here until the time of his death. He had been in poor health the past several months and Friday was taken to the hospital, where he died Monday. He is survived by five brothers and one sister. One of the brothersis Fred of Inman. Another on is Art, who operated a jewerly store here for several years and now lives in California.
