Creighton, Nebraska, July 17, 1931-Special to The News: Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schaum, residents of Creighton and vicinity since 1903, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary here, Wednesday. A dinner consisting of fried chicken and aall t hat goes with it was served to thirty relatives and friends at the noon hour. Following the dinner, they renewed their marriage vows, the Rev. Mr. Wilson of the Methodist Church, performing the ceremony. A procession was formed, little girls, guests at the dinner acting as flower girls and ring bearer, and strewing flowers before the couple. A sister of Mrs. Schaum, Mrs. Perkins of Omaha, was attendant of the bride fifty years ago. Mrs. Perkins and another sister, Mrs. A. C. Walton were the only two in attendance, who attended the wedding of fifty years. Mr. and Mrs. Schaum were married at Troy Mills, Iowa, and lived on a farm in that vicinity for a number of years. They came to Creighton vicinity with their family of nine children in 1903. They lived on farms in this community until about fourteen years ago when they moved to Creighton. One more child was born to them after coming to Knox County. Two of the family of ten children, Earl and Harlan have passed away. Mr. Schaum is 78 years of age and Mrs. Schaum is 70. He is a native of Germany, and Mrs. Schaum was born at Troy Mills, Iowa. Both enjoy good health and are unusually active for their age. Of the eight living children, four were with them for their celebration. They are A. W., A. L., and Richard of Creighton, and Fred Schaum and family of Page, Nebraska. The others who live away from here are Curtis of Covina, California, Ole of Westport, Oregon, Mrs. Cora Whitney of Powder Reiver, Montana, and Mrs. Zora Frederickson of Alameda, California. Other relatives from a distance were, Mrs. and Mrs. Elmer E. Perkins and two grandchildren, Omaha; Mrs. Williaam Dudley, a niece of Mrs. Schaum of Troy Mills, Iowa; Mrs. Jess Porter, a niece of Walker; Leslie Peyton, a nephew, Coggon, Iowa, Joseph Walton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Walton and daughter, Laura of Creighton, Nebraska, Mrs. Otto Hazenpflug and children, and the Rev. Mr. Wilson, all of
Creighton, were guests also. Mr. and Mrs. schaum were presented with two $5 gold pieces at the celebration, each bearing the date of their wedding 1881. A granddaughter, Bae Schaum, presented her grandmother with a wrist watch.
