Roy Burl Tyre, 78, of Sneads, died Feb. 21, 2004, in Marianna.
He was a retired farm instructor with Apalachee Correctional Institution in Sneads. He was a native of Cypress and was a member of the Shady Grove United Methodist Church; a member of Gee Lodge No. 21 in Chattahoochee; a member of York Rite Bodies in Marianna; and a member of Shaddai Shrine in Panama City. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by one daughter, Isa McClellan and husband Hammon of Sneads; one son, Randall B. Tyre of Sneads; two grandchildren, Elizabeth C. Edenfield and John Randall Edenfield, both of Sneads; two great-grandchildren, Tristan Edenfield and Dena Suzanne Edenfield of Sneads; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline K. Tyre.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, at Shady Grove United Methodist Church in the Shady Grove community with burial to follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Military honors and Masonic rites will be held graveside.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Lanier Andler Funeral Home Chapel in Sneads.
