Miss Grace Clifton, nurse at Dunn Memorial Hospital, was in Shoals today to attend funeral services for her mother, Mrs Mary Ellen Clifton, conducted at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon at the Methodist Church. Interment followed in the Spring Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Clifton died Sunday night at her home in Shoals from coronary sclerosis and other complications. She had been in failing health since last December 13, and her condition became serious two weeks ago.
She is survived, besides the daughter here, by her husband, James T. Clifton, two other daughters, Mrs. Clone Lee Tamm and Mrs Fern Ison, both of Indianapolis; a son, Claude Clifton, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Clara McElroy, of Wheatland, and Mrs Grace Witcher, of Shoals; two brothers Charles E. Shrum, Washington, and Otto D. Shrum of Indianapolis.
The daughter of Caleb and Ingeby Shrum, she was born in Martin County July 1, 1883. She wed James T. Clifton February 4, 1906.
She was an active member of the Shoals Methodist Church and boasted an attendance of twelve years without missing a service. She was president of the Shoals WSCS and belonged to the Virginia Meredith Home Economics Club, having retired as its secretary last December.
