He was born on March 17, 1924 in Halfmoon community, the son of the late Sam D. and Effie Mae (McMurtry) Barnett. He was a timber worker and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a son, James Lee Barnett.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Helen (Bramlett) Barnett; five sons, Larry, Jerry Wayne, Teddy, Vernon and Darrell Barnett, all of Clinton; four daughters, Oleida Henson of Montana, Wilma Slack of Crabtree, Ilene Keathly of Russellville, and Susie Mizell of Alaska; a brother, Ed Barnett of Springdale; two sisters, Ruby Gardner of Scotland and Thelma Sheets of Clinton, 31 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
